Many local, affordable infusion providers participate in the Cigna Pathwell Specialty program. Options include:

  • Infusion suites. You may be able to have your treatment at a local infusion suite – offering private rooms, personal TVs, free Wi-Fi and more.
  • Hospitals and other providers. There are thousands of covered providers, including independent oncology centers and hospitals.
  • In-home treatment. You may be able to have treatment in your own home, at a time that works for you. A licensed nurse will stay with you throughout your infusion and make sure you have everything you need.

Find a covered provider

If you have to move your treatment to a covered provider, our Care Managers can help. They’re licensed, registered nurse case managers who have a deep understanding of your medical condition, the specialty medication(s) you’re using and your insurance benefits. They’ll take care of everything for you, so you can focus on your health and well-being. They will:

  • Help you find a treatment location that works best for you. They’ll work with your doctor to get orders and information to your new provider.
  • Work with your doctor’s office to make sure your medication and treatment(s), such as infusions and injections, are covered (precertification).
  • Check in with you to make sure your treatment is going well (as needed).
  • Arrange for counseling and/or other support, (if you need it).

It’s a safe, effective and convenient way to get treatment of certain specialty medications. Home infusions provide “more:”

  • More convenience. You don’t need to find a ride or parking space or drive to your infusion site, which can be far away.
  • More comfort. Have your infusion done right from your couch or bed.
  • More one-on-one time with your provider. Your provider will stay with you for the entire infusion. You also have 24-hour support between visits.
  • More time with your loved ones. Have your treatment done while your family members are home.

Your medication will have to be administered (given to you) by a Cigna Pathwell Specialty covered provider for your Cigna Healthcare medical plan to cover it. Depending on your medication, you may be able to have your infusions done at home; please call  1.877.505.3681 to find out if this is available to you.

Maybe. Your medication will have to be administered (given to you) by a Cigna Pathwell Specialty covered provider. So, your doctor may choose to move your treatment to a different provider. Or your doctor may keep your treatment at your current location but order your medication from a covered provider. If you need to change your treatment location, a Cigna Pathwell Specialty Care Manager will contact you and guide you through every step.

We’ll reach out to your doctor to talk about your options. You don’t have to change your doctor. A Cigna Pathwell Specialty Care Manager will also call you to help explain your options. You don’t need to do anything unless you or your doctor decide to change your treatment location. If that happens, your Care Manager will help find you a new place that meets your needs and will help make sure your treatment’s covered and continued as planned.

Our goal is to help make infusions and injections easier and more affordable. We’ll help you find a covered provider that’s convenient and clinically appropriate for your treatment.

Yes. You don’t need to change doctors. The only thing that may change is where you’re having your infusion or injection. The nurses at your new site will stay in contact with your doctor every step of the way. They’ll work with your doctor before your infusion or injection and send notes to your doctor after every infusion or injection so your doctor knows how your treatment is going.

Our specialty team has found certain oncology (cancer) medications that can safely be administered (given) at a non-hospital infusion site or at home. We follow all of the guidelines that both the company that makes the medication, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), have to make sure infusions are done in the right setting. And if in-home infusion is the best option for you, we’ll work with the home health provider to set up your treatment. A registered nurse will be with you throughout the infusion.

  1. Cigna Pathwell Specialty “covered providers” are providers, pharmacies and facilities that meet our quality and cost standards. This includes the specialty pharmacy your doctor orders your medication from and the place where you’re having your injection or infusion treatment done.
  2. Discount will vary depending on the meal plan you choose.
  3. Your plan may limit the number of visits they’ll cover. Please check your enrollment materials, or log in to the myCigna App or myCigna.com, to learn more.
  4. Depending on your plan, your cost-share may be $0 each time you meet with an in-network registered dietitian. You can check your enrollment materials, or log in to the myCigna App or myCigna.com, to see what your cost-share is. Or a representative from Foodsmart will let you know if you have a cost-share before your visit takes place.

Benefits are subject to plan terms and conditions, including applicable exclusions and limitations. These services may not be available in all areas.
